Our founder, Dr. Ann Newman, is a seasoned professional with demonstrated scientific and leadership expertise in the pharmaceutical industry based on over 20 years of large pharma and contract research experience.
Her career includes:Ten years of large pharma experience with Bristol-Myers Squibb, where she was responsible for physical characterization function in the Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Research Institute, including support of crystal form/salt selection, bulk drug scale-up, and formulation development. Scope included late Drug Discovery through Phase IV, as well as marketed products and regulatory documents.
Ten years of contract research experience with SSCI, Inc where she was also an integral part of the management team, helping to lead the company from 18 people to 100 people. Dr. Newman also performed numerous problem solving roles for large and small pharma companies, including solid form screens (polymorphs, salts, cocrystals, amorphous, amorphous dispersions), physical characterization studies, determination of thermodynamically stable forms, crystallization development for active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), solid form quantitation, and regulatory and intellectual property (IP) support.Numerous years performing research and development, with her final position as Vice President of Research and Development at Aptuit. In this role, she developed and implemented a new global research function covering API, preclinical (toxicology, safety, pharmacokinetics), formulation, solids, analytical, clinical packaging, and regulatory.

Adjunct professor in the Industrial and Physical Pharmacy Department at Purdue University, where she sits on doctoral research committees and works with students on leading edge projects.
Author/collaborator on over 100 articles, book chapters, and presentations.
